The doorbell rang and Karina scrambled in to protect the babies from the big, bad, noise. =)

I don't think anything could be more appropriate than celebrating Independence Day in more ways than just the birth of the United States. The kittens are now very independent! I walked into their room this morning to see Angelo face down in the kitten kibble. When he hopped down, Ana jumped right up and dug in herself! Ace and Angelo were sharing wet food last night and Ace was going at it with gusto. He was so into his first taste of real food, he didn't care that he nipped his brother Angelo's toe, poor thing. Angelo yelped out and quickly realized you can't stand in the food. It's just not safe with Ace around. =)

It is amazing how quickly they start to become their own little kitten once out of the box. Ajax and Angelo are a pair, always out and about discovering new things. Above is a picture of them partaking in the water fountain and then bathing. I have to say, there was some play and a bit of splashing involved, not all business. =)

The kittens are still not using the litter yet, but they are getting the puppy pad it lays on, so keep your fingers crossed they will take to it quickly and soon. Less work for me. ;)

The kittens have been using each other as their play things so far, but today they've added props! Alexi and Ana have discovered the hole in the min condo that leads to the second floor. Oh, what fun they had climbing in and falling through. But, Ana didn't take too kindly to Alexi falling ON her, then when she went to climb back up, Ace swatted at her mid section knocking her down. She retaliated quickly and nipped at him! I swear the look in her eyes...if she could talk, I know she would have hautily said , "Take that big guy and this is for Angelo too." What a fiesty girl. lol I missed the photo op of Ajax playing with the mouse on top of the ball rolling toy. =( Next time...

Abby was out on her own today just walking around and checking things out. She started to feel lonely at one point and cried out to momma. Of course, Karina came and carried her back to the brood. All was well after that.

Ali visited with us this morning and climbed up Darren to his shoulder. Much to his delight (wink), she dug her claws in and decided to perch there. So, we introduced her to the cat scratcher and she hung out on it for a little while. Although, she thinks it's also to bite. Really didn't grasp the whole "scratch it out" yet. But, momma loves to use the cat scratchers, so I know she will be a great role model with that training.
